From Distant to Close - The future healthcare centres work through networking.
Healthcare services will be offered close to the clients, in their own healthcare centres, by linking basic healthcare, specialised care and other service providers into a network that utilises cutting-edge technology – in real time.
Diverse networking creates equal social and healthcare services regardless of distances.
The current opinion is that in order to improve the availability and quality of social and healthcare services, a significant increase in co-operation between different operators, the compatibility of social and healthcare services, distribution of work, diversification of the service range and new operational models to increase wellbeing and health are required.
The following principles for arranging and developing social and healthcare services were defined in the Oulu Arc Subregion co-operation strategy as early as 2003:
Local services supplied in every municipality
Special expertise available at regional healthcare centres
Supply of specialised services agreed upon jointly
Experts will network and distribute work among themselves
The role of enterprises and associations in the service system
